Postdoc and Student positions

The Condensed Matter group at Louisiana State University has recently doubled in size, with high profile hires including Ward Plummer and Mark Jarrell, as well as other experimentalists and theorists. The group now numbers fifteen faculty working on a wide variety of problems in condensed matter physics. Please, follow this link for additional information about the research by the Condensed Matter group.

We have a large number of openings of both graduate and postdoctoral positions. In particular we have a few openings in the field of Theoretical/Computational Studies of Correlated Electronic Systems.

Three or more postdoctoral positions at Louisiana State University in Theoretical/Computational Studies of Correlated Electronic Systems sponsored by NSF and DOE.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Math, Computer Science or a related field. Candidates for the computational positions should have a background with strong emphasis in high performance computing, and an interest in the development and application of new computational methods for correlated electronic many body systems. Candidates for the computational positions may also be able to participate in an international research program working with US, German and Swiss faculty. More information about this international program can be found at the Pirealps web site. Applications must be made electronically and should include a CV, publication list, copies of up to three relevant articles, and three letters of recommendation. For additional information, please e-mail dnorman@phys.lsu.edu. We will begin evaluating applications immediately, and expect the positions to be filled no later than September 2010.

LSU is an Equal Opportunity/Equal Access employer. Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

Ph.D. Assistantships in Theoretical/Computational Condensed Matter Physics at Louisiana State University
Applicants to the Ph.D. research assistantships should have a B.S. in Physics, Applied Math, Computer Science or a related field. Applications must be completed before January 25, 2010 in order to be considered for admission in the fall term. In addition to the materials required by the Physics and Astronomy Department applicants should email a letter describing their qualifications and current interests to dnorman@phys.lsu.edu. We will begin evaluating applications immediately. Candidates may also be able to participate in an international research program working with US, German and Swiss faculty.
